Signore Family Foundation

The Signore Family Foundation is a charitable organization which annually makes a modest contribution to a non or not-for-profit entity doing good in their community. The Foundation’s mission is to keep charitable giving top-of-mind while best leveraging the collective contributions of our family, and to be certain those contributions make a positive impact each year.

Eligibility

In general, organizations looking to receive funding must demonstrate:

Strong leadership;
Clear vision/direction;
Solid understanding as to how SFF contributions will positively impact the organization’s mission;
Some history of a positive impact being made locally (or beyond);
Submission must be received no later than June 30 for consideration of receiving a gift at the end of the same calendar year;

All applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status;
Based and active in the domestic United States;

2024 – Jacksonville Hope Lodge
The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program is a home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room. The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Jacksonville, which opened in 2019, offers 30 guest rooms located near treatment centers in the area.

2023 (1) – Bluffton Youth Theatre
An organization providing training in the performing arts to children in the Hilton Head area with an emphasis on inclusion. Bluffton Youth Theatre’s mission is to create a supportive community where young performers can find their place and thrive regardless of their unique challenges. Through nurturing acceptance and cooperation, exceptional individuals are cultivated on and off the stage while producing top-quality theatrical productions.

2023 (2) – Project Open Door

An outreach program of Rhode Island School of Design providing training in the visual arts to underserved students in the Providence area. POD’s goals are to encourage teens to graduate from high school. To provide teens attending public high schools in Rhode Island with opportunities to develop their artistic skills, and to help prepare teens to enroll in post-secondary education by offering guidance on college selection, applications + portfolio preparation.

2022 – Common Ground Farm
Founded in 2009 by John and Pat Joslin, Common Ground Farm is a community sustained agriculture (CSA) farm in Deland, Florida. Its produce is grown using only organic and natural fertilizers, and genetically altered or chemically treated seeds are not used in planting. This past year, Hurricane Ian caused significant devastation throughout Florida including Volusia County. While many fared far worse, the farm experienced significant flooding that threatened its existence. Our Foundation understands the relevance and specific niche this farm fills for the local community and we are proud to help them get back to their mission of generating healthy, high-quality produce.

2021 – The YWCA Greater Newburyport
The YWCA Greater Newburyport is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The YWCA addresses injustices within the local community through safe, affordable and supportive child care and youth development, housing and wellness opportunities, and they seek to integrate their mission into all of their programs.

2020 – Lucy’s Love Bus
Lucy’s Love Bus is an organization that improves the quality of life for children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses with integrative therapies such as massage, meditation, acupuncture, music therapy, and therapeutic horseback riding. Integrative therapies ease children’s pain and anxiety during and after traditional medical treatments. The organization’s mission is to improve quality of life for children with cancer and life-threatening illness, to support their families, and to mobilize the next generation of cancer activists.

2019 – Pelican Intervention Fund
The Pelican Intervention Fund is dedicated to supporting men and women on their journey from addiction to recovery. The Pelican Intervention Fund seeks to offer hope for sustained recovery for adults who live in the communities of Amesbury, Byfield, Groveland, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury and West Newbury.

2018 – AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital
The staff at AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital are dedicated to continuing the healing ministry of Christ. They are passionate about providing whole care to their community ensuring that physically, mentally and spiritually every person thrives and reaches their best potential. AdventHealth Fish is more than a hospital, it is a community partner. The Signore Family Foundation donation toward the community garden will enable the staff at the hospital to further their mission of providing quality food and education on healthy food choices to Orange City, FL, and their neighboring communities.

2017 – Virgin Gorda and Bitter End Yacht Club Relief Fund
The Virgin Gorda and Bitter End Yacht Club Relief Fund provided for employees at the Bitter End Yacht Club whose lives were impacted by Hurricane Irma in September of 2017. The BEYC, the largest employer on Virgin Gorda with 175 employees, and the entire Virgin Gorda community, was devastated by the storm.

2016 – New Horizons for New Hampshire
New Horizons for New Hampshire operates an adult homeless shelter, a soup kitchen, food pantry and Angie’s Shelter for Women. The shelters house an average of 80 people each night, the soup kitchen serves over 250 meals daily and the food pantry provides food to over 900 families each month.

2015 – Providence Public Library
The Providence Public Library is a 140-year-old nonprofit corporation providing free public library services through print, recorded and digital collections, information resources, programs of interest and relevance, and expert staff.

2014 – The Positive Vibes Café
The Positive Vibe Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to training people with disabilities in food service. Since 2004, Positive Vibe Café has trained over 400 students, all with scholarships. The training program aims to prepare students for the work world and includes basic food service skills; is hands-on, builds self-confidence and readies students for real world employment

2013 – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida
Ronald McDonald House Charities^® of Central Florida finds, creates, and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and families undergoing cancer treatment.

2012 – Dawn Hochsprung Memorial Fund
Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung was the principal who died while trying to protect students at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Dawn’s family established a scholarship in her memory that will benefit residents of her hometown high school who are planning to pursue a career in education.

2011 – Keep the Heat On
Established in 2005, “Keep the Heat On” has been providing heating assistance to more than 7,800 local families and individuals coping with financial struggles within the Diocese of Providence.
